Pin Loom Hippopotamus Pattern
This is a downloadable three page PDF pattern with detailed instructions and illustrations for making the Pin Loom Hippopotamus. The finished Hippopotamus measures 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm). I modeled this hippo after "William" the ancient Egyptian ceramic hippopotamus that is a well loved exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum and serves as their informal mascot. This pattern requires, at a minimum, the use of a 2" x 2" and a 4" x 4" pin loom. I used a 2" x 4" and a 4" x 6" pin loom in making the pattern but it is entirely possible to join the 2" and 4" squares to construct the pattern. Beginner level crochet skills are also needed.
